Gift Guide: To Gather
This guide is for those of us who love to get outside, forage and gather….
Harvesting Bag by Rural Kind
I don’t actually own this (yet) but do have another of Mike and Nia’s bags and I can say that quality of design and craftsmanship is wonderful.
Perfect for gathering elderflowers, windfall apples or the occasional load of logs, or why not use it as a picnic bag with ample room for a blanket, flask and a favourite book.

Gather - A Subscription
If you’ve not come across Grace Alexander yet then you are in for a treat. Words, photography, and the most wonderful flowers. ‘Gather’ is Grace’s monthly membership for flower lovers, and I think it would make a lovely gift. She says:
You could rage at what is happening to our planet, our soil & our bees. You could despair at the fracturing and the monetisation of our attention and our time. Or, you could put plants in the ground and root yourself in the earth.
You could join Gather.
A Vase for Stems
This is one of our most popular pieces - it’s really good for smaller arrangements. We’ve also got some fresh new colours available and some more coming soon in the pale clay.
Niwaki Rattan Snips
These are new to our shop and they are just beautiful. Perfect for snipping foliage from the garden.
A Home for Seeds
Mabel & Co are a designer-maker studio based in beautiful Suffolk where they focus on the traditional craft of letter-press. I love their work and especially these simple and elegant storage boxes.
The Flower Fix
I love this book by Sheffield institution Swallows and Damsons. Practical, inspiring and accessible ideas and arrangements to bring to your own home. Plus there’s amazing photography from India Hobson too (including the image above, feat. our old studio!)
Kenzan Flower Frogs
These Niwaki Kenzan are used for ikebana flower displays, but are also great for more Western style arrangements too. The brass pins are strong enough for woody material, as well as soft green and grass stems. You can also make criss-cross cuts into the bottom of larger twigs, to stick them in more easily. Lower into water in bowls, vases (or whatever you like!) and water daily.
Uncut Stems
A Fortnightly Subscription of Uncut Stems
Unluckily for me, Uncut Stems does not serve my postcode, but if you’re in London, this is the flower club you want to be in - beautiful British grown flowers. What an amazing thing you could gift someone with!
Forage Bowl by Carla Murdoch
Forage Bowl
I couldn’t not include our friend Carla’s Forage Bowl in this guide. Such a pleasing thing for gathering crops from the garden, berries from hedgerows.
