Competition: Our Favourite Summer Recipes
Cooking and eating outdoors with family and friends is surely one of life’s most simple pleasures - don’t you think?
This weekend we did just that, Matt baked pizza and sourdough bread in a wood-fired oven, and we prepared some tasty summer salads.
In anticipation of our online shop update, next Wednesday 24th July (7pm), and to celebrate a couple of new pieces being launched, we’re having a giveaway over on Instagram. We are giving away two of our new angle bowls, to the winner and their tagged friend. Competition terms and conditions can be found here.
Anyway, here are the photographs and recipe details of our own summer dinner party:
Basic Pizza Dough Recipe:
500g strong white bread flour
330g water
10g salt
5g dried yeast
Semolina (for rolling out)
Mix everything together and knead for 5 minutes. Leave for 1 hour. Shape into 150 - 200g balls. Leave for 30 minutes, then roll out into flat pizza bases, in semolina to prevent sticking (especially important when using a peel for an oven). Add the toppings of choice (we used tomato sauce, anchovies, olives, parsley, mozzarella, ricotta). We baked for 1-2 minutes but in a normal oven, using a pizza stone it will take approx. 6 minutes at full temperature (oven pre-heated with the stone in).
Salads and other dishes:
We cooked:
A roasted aubergine salad with anchovies and oregano from Ottolenghi Simple
New potatoes with goat’s cheese, lavender and elderflower butter - a Gill Mellor recipe
A tomato, ricotta, parmesan salad from Diana Henry
My mum cooked her top secret rice salad recipe (sorry I’m sworn to secrecy), and also her gooseberry tart (not sure of the recipe, but it is so delicious)…
Raspeberry Ice Cream - another Ottolenghi Simple recipe
