Teapot in nori, pale stoneware, for Penny Royal Design
February has seen us finishing working on some exciting wholesale orders for return clients and some new ones too. We’ve made some pieces for Sheffield’s Yard Gallery, for their shop at newly designed Leah’s Yard and also The Sheffield Table, the gallery’s exciting new dining club.
Almost completed is a beautiful order for Sessun’s Islington store. I love this brand and it’s commitment to craftsmanship and I think the pieces they’ve chosen will complement their style perfectly.
Another new client is in the US - Penny Royal Design, who design and make leather ware. They’ll be stocking teapots, new curved mugs, lidded jars and pourers in our pale stoneware.
Cups, waxed and ready to glaze
Now that the majority of our wholesale orders are completed, we’ll be starting to work on the making for our next gas firing in April, and we’re planning on producing a lot more tenmoku pieces as these have been so popular.
We also enjoyed a flying visit to Edinburgh this half term. We popped into our favourite stockists, Edinburgh Mercantile (image below left), and also spent some time in the National Museum on Chamber Street where we enjoyed the ‘Early People’ installation by Andy Goldsworthy - a clay wall, dug from Drumlanrig, Dumfriesshire. And we couldn’t visit Edinburgh without joining the queue at Lannan, one of the most beautiful bakeries I have ever been to (bottom right).
Although we’ve been working mainly on orders we have found some time to do some designing, protoyping a new product. Images below, can you guess what it will be? You’ll have to be patient!
