Winter Dates for the Diary

Now that we're in November and 'that-time-year' approaches, my diary has been opened, scribbled all over and some decisions and plans have been made - here are some dates for various webshop updates and our Open Studio Seconds Sale event...

Wednesday 10th November at 19:00 GMT - Wood Fired Collection Launch

If you've been following along for a while, you'll know about our involvement in the wood-kiln up at Manor Top here in Sheffield. It's an absolute privilege to have access to this kiln, and following the firing last month we are presenting for sale a small selection of wood-fired pieces. There will likely to be more to follow in early December as another wood-firing session approaches, but for now these are the select pieces we've decided to sell. A selection of more experimental pieces in various celadon, wood ash and tenmoku glazes.

Saturday and Sunday 20th & 21st November - Open Studios and Seconds Sale

We were so sad to not open up our studio last year to the public, so this year we’re very pleased to be taking part in the Yorkshire Artspace’s Open Studios event once again. Come and take a look around our studio, purchase some pots - and we will also be selling select seconds and samples - and visit the studios of all the other wonderful makers we share our building with. The event is free but booking is essential.

Sunday 21st at 18:00 - Winter Shop Update

We’ve been busy making lots of pots for our online shop, and although we now aim to keep our shop restocked all year round (as opposed to bi-monthly ‘updates’ or ‘drops’), we have decided to have a big winter update, going live at 18:00 on Sunday 20th November, following our Open Studios event. We shall keep the shop open, but if you’ve been waiting for an item to come back into stock, this is probably the best time to make a purchase as things often sell out quickly.

Sunday 28th at 11:00 - Pottery West X Essence and Alchemy Candle Launch

We’re very excited to announce this collaboration between ourselves and Lesley from Essence and Alchemy, whose work we so admire. A batch of tea bowls glazed in our nori glaze emerged from the kiln particularly vivid blue and varied -  a nostalgic sepia tone with a mottled blue speck and blocks of pale grey blue and we knew we wanted to do something a little different with them than originally intended, so we approached Lesley with an idea. She got to work and set out to create a fresh scent that reflected the blue and green almost marine-like tones of the nori glaze. The scent is a blend of 7 essential oils - bergamot, grapefruit, clary sage, lavender, vetiver, spruce and black pepper.

This is a limited edition of 30, and we think they would make a lovely seasonal gift.
