A new body of work to complement our standard ware pieces. The first part of this collection we have titled ‘ Tea + Flowers’. One off teapots, large vessels for mid-summer flowers, storage jars for loose tea.

Right handed pouring jug thrown in a flecked stoneware and glazed in our new white nuka. This is a subtle grey hued glaze which is semi-matte. We make the glaze from wood ash collected from our stove throughout the winter.

Large Platter thrown in an iron-rich stoneware and glazed in our shino glaze, reduction fired in a gas kiln. This glaze is a warm and earthy colour with a darker area where there is carbon trapping in the glaze from the firing process.

Large teapot thrown in a flecked stoneware and glazed in a shino glaze, reduction fired in a gas kiln. This glaze offers much variation and beauty depending on its placement in the kiln. In this instance the glaze is a golden caramel tone with lots of iron flecking, and breaking orange in certain areas. This is a larger sized teapot, holding 1235ml and we added a lug above the spout to support the weight of the pot when pouring.

Rounded teapot thrown in an iron-rich flecked stoneware and glazed in our pale blue chun glaze, reduction fired in a gas kiln. Iron oxide brushwork has been applied underneath the glaze, and this has emerged beautifully one one side, the other side is swept under a an intricately blue wave of colour where the glaze is thicker and has ‘done its thing’ in the heat of the kiln. this unexpected drama and contrast only heightens the beauty and individualism of the piece.

Faceted teapot thrown in an iron-rich flecked stoneware and glazed in a shino glaze, reduction fired in a gas kiln. This glaze offers much variation and beauty depending on its placement in the kiln. On this piece the glaze is white in areas, breaking into an peach / orange tone, especially on the lid and lines where the facets have been made.

Autumnus Bowl thrown in an iron-rich stoneware and glazed in our shino glaze, reduction fired in a gas kiln. This glaze is a warm peach / orange colour, whiter in places with lots of subtle iron flecking from the clay.

This glaze is so beautiful and subtle with a green and blue (depending on the light, as pictured) hue derived entirely from the trace amounts of iron in the wood ash. Flecked and crackled.

Bottle vase thrown in a flecked stoneware and faceted at the wheel. Glazed in a celadon type glaze and reduction fired in a gas kiln. This vase has a pattern created by carving lines into the form and inlaying porcelain slip.
This is a special piece in that it is one the first of a body of work we are currently working on, experimenting with porcelain inlay surface decoration.

Bottle vase thrown in a flecked stoneware and faceted at the wheel. Glazed in a celadon type glaze and reduction fired in a gas kiln. This piece contains a floral motif created by impressing the form and inlaying porcelain slip. The red petals are coloured by a small amount of copper mixed into the porcelain, reacting in the reduction atmopshere of the kiln.
This is a special piece in that it is the first of a body of work we are currently working on, experimenting with porcelain inlay surface decoration.

The glaze is made from wood ash and has a matte/satin feel, whiter in places with lots of iron flecking. Subtle and beautiful.

This piece is glazed in our pale blue chun glaze with iron brushwork added to each facet. Reduction fired in a gas kiln.
