Studio Journal: October 2025
When I put together our monthly studio journals it is almost impossible to not begin with the weather. Is it because I’m British and we live in a constantly shifting climate? Or perhaps it is because our new workshop doesn’t yet have heating installed and so we are feeling the onset of autumn a little more keenly than before…. Whatever the reason, I feel it is my duty to comment upon the most exquisite colours of the falling leaves this month, and also to say that yes, beeswax candles have been extremely popular, in fact we’ve almost sold out! A new delivery from Moorlands is imminent.
New Jars for Autumn
As potters go, Matt and I seem to have a thing for making jars.
Jars, boxes, vases with flower frog lids, storage jars, urns, sourdough starter jars, a place for tea and coffee, sugar dishes, jewellery jars - the list goes on for the different ways people use them. Our jars make lovely gifts too, something to consider as we head into the ‘gifting season’
Studio Journal: September 2025
September has been the first proper month of making in our new workshop. Phase 1 of the studio move is finally complete! That is, we are moved in, things have found their general places and we are functional. We are back to making and back to a bit of teaching too.
Kettle’s Yard
Earlier this month we took a spontaneous road trip to Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge, a place we’d had on our lists to visit for ages. This place is so well regarded and spoken about, so I won’t spend too many words describing our experience, however we took many photographs which I’ll share here. A special day it was and we have come home with a feeling of fresh inspiration for our work, home, and how to display our pots.
Our Studio Journal - March
March has come and gone in the blink of an eye. This month has marked my return to the studio after my maternity leave and it feels good to be getting back into the swing of it all. I’ve been thrown right into the action as we prepare for the gas firing in April.
Our Studio Journal - February
February has seen us finishing working on some exciting wholesale orders for return clients and some new ones too. We’ve made some pieces for Sheffield’s Yard Gallery, for their shop at newly designed Leah’s Yard and also The Sheffield Table, the gallery’s exciting new dining club.
