Jar in Tenmoku and Chun with Ash Lid

Jar in Tenmoku and Chun with Ash Lid

£175.00

Ceramic jar wheel-thrown in a pale stoneware and glazed in a tenmoku type glaze with a chun-type glaze painted over the top.

16cm h x 15cm ø (at widest point to nearest half cm)

Part of an edition of eleven jars, a collaboration of Pottery West and Neil Whitelaw. He says about the choice of wood for this lid:

I was lucky enough to be slicing some ash up and when I opened it up I found the two tone (ash dieback) and immediately thought it could work. It was turned quite green (the wood was still quite fresh from my neighbour’s garden) so when it has dried it’s developed some lovely textures along its “fault lines “.

Each jar in the collection is completely unique.
