Jar in Pale Blue Chun, Iron Stripe and Laburnum Lid

Jar in Pale Blue Chun, Iron Stripe and Laburnum Lid

£245.00

Ceramic jar wheel-thrown in a pale stoneware and glazed in a ‘pale blue chun’ glaze with iron oxide brushwork. Gas-fired in October 2023.

23.5cm h x 18.5cm ø (at widest point to nearest half cm)

Part of an edition of eleven jars, a collaboration of Pottery West and Neil Whitelaw.

The lid is turned on a lathe using laburnum from the orchard at the back of Neil’s house in Oughtibridge. He says about the lid:

The colour match was something I saw in the glaze and thought laburnum would be ideal. I chose a piece that would highlight the swathe of dark green/brown on the glaze.

Each jar in the collection is completely unique.
