Jar in Shino with Cherry Lid

Ceramic jar wheel-thrown in a pale stoneware and glazed in a shino glaze. Gas-fired in October 2023.

17.5cm h x 16.5cm ø (at widest point to nearest half cm)

Part of an edition of eleven jars, a collaboration of Pottery West and Neil Whitelaw. He says about the choice of wood for this lid:

When I saw this cherry with the grain lines mirroring the same in the glaze I loved it. It shares a lovely warmth with the glaze. The cherry is from Loxley in Sheffield.

Each jar in the collection is completely unique.
