Jar in Pale Blue Chun, Laburnum Lid

Jar in Pale Blue Chun, Laburnum Lid

£245.00

Ceramic jar wheel-thrown in a pale stoneware and glazed in a pale blue chun glaze with iron brushwork, reduction fired, The glaze has lots of variation.

18cm h x 14.5cm ø (at widest point to nearest half cm)

Part of an edition of eleven jars, a collaboration between Pottery West and Neil Whitelaw. He says about the choice of wood for this lid:

The laburnum is from the orchard at the back of my house. The colour match was something I saw in the glaze and thought laburnum would be ideal. I chose a piece that would highlight the swathe of dark green/brown on the glaze.

Each jar in the collection is completely unique with its corresponding lid turned at the lathe in Neil’s Sheffield workshop.
